1. Program Overview & Eligibility Requirements

The Franco-Thai Young Talent Research Fellowship Program aims at jumpstarting the career of young researchers from Thailand and from France by giving them the opportunity to develop promising collaboration with their counterparts.

This program supports Thai and French post doctorates who are lecturers or researchers in public or private institutions intending to conduct a research project of two (2) to six (6) months within a laboratory or research center located in France (for Thai candidates) or in Thailand (for French Candidate). The Thai post doctorates must graduate in 2021 onwards and must be affiliated with an institution in Thailand while the French post doctorates must graduate in 2016 onwards and must collaborate with institutions in Thailand. All fields of research will be considered and the selection will be made based on the criteria of excellence.

For the candidates who are currently PhD student, they must complete their PhD by February 2026, before leaving for France or Thailand.

This program is a joint initiative co-funded by Thai (PMU-B) and French (Embassy of France) parties. It is operated by Campus France.

The project proposal in the priority research fields listed below is highly encouraged. It is to support the policies of Thai Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

Priority reseach fields : Future trends (Digital&AI, Electric Vehicles, Semiconductors, Climate Change&Biodiversity, Biotechnology, Clean Energy), High Technology (Sensor&Robotics, Medical Hub, Aviation&Logistics, Advanced Materials), Frontier Technology (Earth&Space Technology, Nuclear, High Energy, Physics&Plasma Technology, Quantum Technology), Social Sciences, Humanity and Art (Heritage Restoration, Archaeology, Architecture, Creative Economy).

The fellowship benefits:

For Thai researcher coming to France (Co-funding)

For French researcher coming to Thailand funded by PMU-B

- a round trip ticket from Thailand to France,

- a monthly living allowance of 1,800€

- the OFII and visa fees

- health insurance coverage for the duration of the stay in France.

- a monthly living allowance of 1,800€

- a one-time, lump-sum payment of 2,000€ to cover a round-trip ticket from France to Thailand, the domestic transport, and the health insurance coverage for the duration of stay in Thailand

Funding terms:

- PMU-B co-funding will be provided in a single instalment within one month after the contract has been signed with PMU-B

- Embassy of France co-funding will be provided monthly in France.

- Please note: The program does not cover bench fees or provide direct assistance in finding accommodation. However, the host laboratory or the International Relations Department of the host university should be able to offer support in this matter.

- For French researchers: to obtain a Non-Immigrant (RS) Visa, you are required to comply with the "Regulations on the Permission for Foreign Researchers to Conduct Research in Thailand B.E. 2550" and submit the necessary forms to National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). NRCT-01 Application Form for Permission to Conduct Research in Thailand and NRCT-07 Summary of the project proposal in Thai are required documents. Forms can be downloaded at http://foreignresearcher.nrct.go.th/ All required documents must be submitted via email frm@nrct.go.th at least 90 days prior to your intended start date.

2. Selection Process

‍The selection committee will evaluate applications based on the following criteria:

- The scientific and technical quality of the project

- The methodological rigour of the proposed research

- The long term scientific and/or technical benefits

- The alignment of the project with the candidate background & expertise

‍A special consideration will be given to applicants who have secured additional funding for their project and who hold positions as lecturers or researchers in public or private institutions.

3. Selection Schedule

‍Deadline for Submission: 31 October 2025

Results: March 2026

Departure should be scheduled from late April 2026

Please note that: All research projects must be completed by 31 December 2026 and only selected candidates will be contacted.

4. Documents to be provided

- A completed and signed application form

- A copy of passport

- An up-to-date CV including a full list of publications

- A cover letter explaining motivations and interests in the project

- A copy of academic diplomas (PhD certificate)

- A detailed research proposal for international projects including a table of the full project plan and a table of exchange period activities.

- An official letter of invitation from the host laboratory

- A letter of support (LOS) from the institutions in Thailand

- For Thai post doctorates: A LOS from your home institution in Thailand. This letter must confirm that the institutions will manage and allocate the PMU-B funding to the candidate,

- For French post doctorates: the LOS from your host institution in Thailand. This letter must confirm the collaboration and state that the institution agrees to host the candidate and facilitate the allocation of PMU-B funding for their fellowship.

- A proof of the scheduled thesis defence date, if PhD has not yet been completed at the time of application

‍Optional documents:

- Academic and/or professional recommendations

- Language proficiency certificates: French (TCF, DELF, DALF, academic degree,…) and/orEnglish (TOEFL, TOEIC, etc.)

- Co-funding commitment letter
