“จากงานวิจัยสู่ต้นแบบผลิตภัณฑ์ Vegan Leather” 
ในยุคที่ความยั่งยืนและการอนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อมเป็นสิ่งสำคัญ ผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่ๆ ที่ช่วยลดการใช้ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและไม่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับสัตว์กำลังได้รับความนิยม
วันนี้เราขอนำเสนอ หนึ่งในงานวิจัยของศูนย์ iMatS “หนังมังสวิรัติ (Vegan Leather) หรือหนังวีแกน” ที่ผลิตจากวัสดุธรรมชาติ 100% กำลังเป็นทางเลือกใหม่ในการทดแทนหนังสัตว์และหนังเทียมที่มาจากปิโตรเคมี โดยมีส่วนประกอบหลักจาก น้ำยางพาราสด เส้นใยจากเห็ด และวัสดุเหลือใช้จากการเกษตร เช่น เยื่อหุ้มเมล็ดกาแฟ
ทำไมถึงน่าสนใจ?
• ผลิตจากวัสดุธรรมชาติที่ยั่งยืน
• ไม่มีการใช้พลาสติก และใช้สารเคมีในปริมาณน้อยมากเมื่อเทียบกับอุตสาหกรรมหนังเทียม
• เพิ่มมูลค่าให้กับยางพาราไทย และวัสดุเหลือใช้ทางการเกษตร ช่วยสร้างโอกาสใหม่ทางเศรษฐกิจ

ด้วยแนวคิดการใช้วัสดุที่ยั่งยืนและเป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม ผลงานวิจัยนี้ไม่เพียงแต่สร้างนวัตกรรมใหม่ในการผลิตวัสดุเทียม แต่ยังเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการลดผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมจากผลิตภัณฑ์หนังทดแทนและลดการทารุณสัตว์

In an era where sustainability and environmental conservation are becoming increasingly important, new products that help reduce the use of natural resources and have no ties to animal products are gaining popularity.
Today, we would like to introduce one of the groundbreaking research from iMatS. “Vegan Leather”, a 100% natural material alternative to animal leather and synthetic leather made from petrochemicals. The main components include fresh natural rubber latex, mushroom fibers, and agricultural by-products such as coffee husks.
Why is this interesting?
• Made from sustainable natural materials
• No plastic used, and minimal chemicals used as compared to the synthetic leather industry
• Adds value to Thai rubber and agricultural by-products, creating new economic opportunities
This research is the result of a collaboration between Asst. Prof. Dr. Sitthi Duangphet, Dr. Somwan Chumphongphan, and their team from the Center of Innovative Materials for Sustainability, School of Science, Mae Fah Luang University.
